EVA - B Series Gigabits or gigabytes

I might be going a bit bonkers but i need some help in clarifying the switch and array quickspec port speeds.

are they in Gigabits per second or gigabytes per second?

Many thanks

And remember you must divide by 10 to get bytes/s, not by 8, because on the fiber channel protocol 8b/10b encoding is used to keep signal timing accurate.

Re: EVA - B Series Gigabits or gigabytes

Hi Balin,

Think of Gb as a unit of speed (Gb/sec), whereas GB is a unit of of storage(a Gigabyte). Fibre Channel is a serial protocol, so it is expressed in Gb/sec; whereas SCSI is parallel (one byte is tranmitted with each clcok pulse) , so speed on SCSI are expressed as GB/sec.
