EVA4000 HSV200 upgrade

I have an EVA4000 HSV200 and and EVA4000 HSV200-a
I would like to upgrade the EVA4000 HSV200
I have read that an upgrade to an EVA8100 will not be possible as it cannot coexist in same FC SAN with an EVA4000. Can I upgrade to an EVA8000 then, keep the enclosures and simply upgrade the controllers. I believe I would need to install FC loop switches as well.

Thanks

"I have read that an upgrade to an EVA8100 will not be possible as it cannot coexist in same FC SAN with an EVA4000."

Where did you get that? You can have any model of EVA, or other HP disk enclosure, or even non-HP disk enclosures on a SAN. In fact it's the usual situation.

There are other recent posts about updating an EVA4000 to 8100, search a little. You need two new controllers, 4 loop-switches and replace the I/O modules and EMUs on the disk enclosures.

EVA8100

Integration HP EVA6100/8100 models are 4Gb/s FC Switched Fabric "enabled" and can operate on 4Gb/s or 2Gb/s FC Switched Fabric SANs. They can co-exist in the same FC SAN with EVA3000, EVA4100 and EVA5000 FC storage solutions and many other SAN devices.

I read this from the Quickspecs of the EVA8100 If I am incorrect then great as it would make this upgrade alot easier if we could upgrade from EVA4000 to EVA8100. My concern was the integration with our other EVA4000 which from the above Quickspecs note claims it is not possible.
