EVA4400 and HP A500-44 (PN: A5570B)

Guys,
please confirm if the following works:

old server - HP A500 (A500-44) with 11i
hba card: A6826A PCI-X Dual Channel 2Gb Fibre Channel HB

I've read this in the EVA440 RN: "The EVA4400 supports 1/2/4 Gb Fibre Channel communication but requires 4 Gb SFPs in the controller
host ports."

However I read this as well in the EVA compat reference that A6826 which is a 2Gb FC works with EVA4400 as for 11i,11iv2, 11iv3.

the A500 and eva4400 is already existing, i have to buy the fc card. kindly advise if possible or any other options that I can do.

Thanks,

Hello,

AFAIK are only 4 GB SFPs in the controllers host ports supported. This can also run 1 or 2 GB FC connections. So it should work with the A6826A.

Thanks Patrick.
Is the a6826A works with A500? A500 says it has only a pci slot, while the A6826a is a pci-x.

Re: EVA4400 and HP A500-44 (PN: A5570B)

According to the support matrix the card is supported with any rp24xx machine (A-class server) with PDC 43.24 minimum.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: EVA4400 and HP A500-44 (PN: A5570B)

Thanks Torsten, I've read that one as well. I've reviewed A500 or rp24xx pci slots and its only support pci. while the card is pcix. what will be the implication, aside form the speed?

Hello,

as far as I know, PCI-X cards should be backwards compatible with standard PCI in terms of slots and adapters. So you should not have trouble using these in your A-class.

Re: EVA4400 and HP A500-44 (PN: A5570B)

Since this old server is slow anyway compared to current servers, the HBA will not be the bottleneck - the whole server will be a single bottleneck ;-))

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
