EVA4400 and management module

hi All,

getting some confuse between EVA4400 and management module.

EVA4400 has an embedded management module, but if i have a CommandView server installed, do i still need to provide a ip for the management module?

thx.

Re: EVA4400 and management module

well it will have a default ip anyway so you may as well give it one you can use. Just be aware that it will also have 10.0.0.1 /2 /3 as these are used by the controllers and cannot be changed.

Re: EVA4400 and management module

do i need to connect the management module to our public network, in order to access the WOCP?

Re: EVA4400 and management module

The management module has the same commandview (more or less, but it's less ...) than the server has. So you don't really need it.

Consider to make sure you have the latest firmware installed, so you can use it as backup - just in case.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EVA4400 and management module

One of the things you currently cannot do is firmware upgrades from the on board EVA4400 CV. And if you have a server to act as a Storage Management Server you can use the one server to manage multiple EVAs, run IRSS, etc. A much better way to go, than using the on board version of CV
