EVA6000

Hello All,

I have an EVA6000. I have to install new hard drives but, all my firmware is VERY out of date. This will be the first time upgrading any of the firmware so I'm a little nervous. I have two controllers:

Model: HSV200
Software Version: CR0D63xc3p-6000

We are also running Command View 7.0. We have version 9 but have not yet upgraded.

So, here are some questions I have:

1. Should the firmware on the hard drives be upgraded before or after the firmware on the controllers?

2. Can I go directly to the new Firmware version or do I need to upgrade to a lower version first, then to the newest?

3. Does the EVA need to be taken "Offline" to do the upgrade?

4. Is there a way to backup the controller’s current configuration in case something goes wrong?

I'm hoping HP has a guide or to draw on other's experience with upgrading their systems. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Re: EVA6000

Before you start to upgrade to version 6220, you should get the bits from http://software.hp.com (search for "XCS") and also read and understand the release notes.

Some general answers to your questions (be aware - read the notes!):

1) first upgrade commandview (you need a license!), then the controller firmware, then the drives

2) yes, upgrade directly

3) this is an online upgrade, but the system should not be "under pressure"

4) yes, take a SSSU capture config

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
