EVA8K expansion
Hi,
We have EVA8K and EVA3K. EVA3K shut down due to controller issue, EVA8K is operate in order.
EVA8K config
Disk enclosures - 8 (146 GB*14*8)
Controllers - HSV210 -2
Loop switch - 2
EVA3K config
Disk enclosures - 4 (146*14*2 + 300*8*2)
Controllers - HSV200-2
Loop switch - 0
We learn that EVA8K can be expand, our requirement is expand EVA8K by using EVA3K disk enclosures.
Can we use 2 of EVA3K enclosures (300*8*2) to expand EVA8K ?
If possible, can we connect both disk enclosure to one loop switch ( Eg : both the enclosures connected to the upper loop switch )?
Can we do this task online ?
Appreciate you valuable advice

Re: EVA8K expansion
Hi,
I'd say this depends a lot on what kind of IO module you have in the enclosures.

Re: EVA8K expansion
Hi,
Thanks for the replay.
Hope you mean cables and connectors ?
Both cable types are same ( 17-05405-01 Rev 1), EVA3k was directly connected to HSV's ( No pass through switch connected). EVA8K enclosures connected to pass through switch.
It seams FC modules and I/O B modules of both storage are same.
Are we good to go ahead ?

Re: EVA8K expansion
Hi
You have to check the IO B and IO A modules they should be the same if not you can not use the disk enclosures from the old EVA. As I remember it can't be done with out changing the IO modules.
