Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

HI,

I Have upgraded my CMD View EVA from 8 to 9.1 and as a side-effect/install recommendation had to update the Emulex HBA driver version, which meant removing HBAnywhere and now when I try to install HBAnywhere v41a35 (cp011161.exe, downloaded yesterday off HP site) it instantly ends unsuccessfully without details and says "check setup log" for details.
(screen grab attached)

I was able to successfully install HBAnywhere v34a9 (cp0009001.exe, also downloaded yesterday from HP), but even then the newer version will not install.

Is this significant? Is there a known problem with this new version of HBAnywhere?
Where do I find the setup log file? (I looked in C:\, in C:\Windows, in C:\Program Files, in C:\Temp)

thanks.

Re: Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

Tod,

answer to the question where the log file is, most likely this is the smartcomponent log file which is in C:\CPQSYSTEM\log\cpqsetup.log

maybe it contains a hint.

Re: Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

Thanks. I looked in that file and found only the same text as the screen dialogs (ie. setup is complete. setup failed. check logs...") so was not of help.

Anyone else tried installing this version of HBAnywhere?

Re: Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

Todd,

the HBAnywhere AutoPilot maintains an installation history log in the C:\Program Files\Emulex\AutoPilot Installer\reports folder.

Having one or more FC HBA in a disabled state will result in the AutoPilot exiting without a error code in the smartcomponent log file (cpqsetup.log).

Maybe that log file contains more detail....

Re: Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

Thanks Kris,

I checked the Emulex Autopilot installer report log and everything there is successful and both HBAs are enabled,
so no clues there either why the new HBAnywhere version bombs out instantly on invoking.

Re: Emulex HBAnywhere 41a35 (Win32) upgrade failure

Todd,

tried it on a ML370 G3 with w2k3 SP2 with two lp952 and the cpqsetup.log file shows these entries. Not sure if it shows the same for you, but maybe the list of items it checks might help you to find why it stops. I had an old version installed and upgraded to this latest version now.
The release notes also list some dependencies (i.e. storport driver version) which you might check out.
