Eva 5000 HSV110 Failure

Hi,

I'm new to the EVA 5000. Command View GUI is showing one of the hsv110's with

Operational State: Failed
Connection State: Link to switch failed

Is there a way to determine the scope of the failure besides changing the power supply or other parts?

We have the printed manual for the EVA 5000. It does not show a procedure for replacing the HSV110. Which manual would have the change procedure documentation?

Hi, that only means that you have one of the host ports (FP1, FP2) disconnected. Check the fiber channel cables that connect that controller to the SAN and the SFPs.

Re: Eva 5000 HSV110 Failure

Hello!

I guess it wouldn't say 'link to switch' if it is the Mirror Port that is failed (the cable(s) between the HSVs).

mpapet - easy way to see if a fp/sfp is faulty is to take cable/sfp from the broken FP and swap that with a working one.

If an HSV is faulty, you can see in the front OCP if there is a code or error.

Re: Eva 5000 HSV110 Failure

I wasn't specific enough in the original post.

Of the two ports on the hsv110, only #1 reports the error.

Also, the LCD shows no fault codes.

The cable fix does not seem likely. Does fiber cable degrade over time?

Furthermore, after turning off the 'identify' option, one of the FP lamps is not lit. The other end that the cable connects to is lit.

Re: Eva 5000 HSV110 Failure

The problem was a GBIC gone bad.
