FCoE or FC ???

FCoE or FC ? that is the problem !!
Is there any benefit to use FCoE unless its simpler configuration in network ?
Is there any software such as iSCSI initiator for iSCSI in NIC ( FC initiator)
that we can see FC SAN LUN over NIC ?
Is it any benefit in performance when we use FCoE instead of FC ? (FC 8Gbps)
why some company purchase FCoE SAN ( EMC VNX ... ) for their network?
what is the benfit of it ?

Re: FCoE or FC ???

by this software there are some problems in the security of The LUNs in FCoE SANs.
So there is no need unless Zoning !! is it correct ?

Re: FCoE or FC ???

I haven't looked deep into FCoE (which is only a partial 'solution' - the real topic is CEE: Converged Enhanced Ethernet), but it does NOT look 'simpler' to me.

A CNA (Converged Network Adapter) and a CEE switch are terribly complex beasts.

The long-term benefit is a simpler network
- less cables, for example
- one infrastructure: CEE: not LAN+FC

but I don't see that for small shops today. And large shops can't make full use of CEE, because some features for large networks are missing today.

On the other hand - you have to start with _something_.
