Hi!
I need to upgrade our EVA6300 but was is best practise? As I understand there is upgrades for Commando View, EVA and the harddrives, correct?
Is it possible to upgrade on-the-fly?
Please share other tip&tricks for EVA upgrade.

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
Hi,
1.) Read the UPS guide and release notes for your XCS and CV.
2.) Download xcs and CV from software.hp.com. Probably easier to reinstall CV rather than of upgrading if on a server.
3.) Don't forget to also upgrade the management module if you have CV installed on a server

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
Thanks.
1) Yes I did that and got through the check-list.
2) Firmware is downloaded and prepared. I didn't understand that you should use CV "recieve for trial" :)
3) CV is installed on a server, is the management module a seprate installation? any config that need to saved?
During the upgrade/reinstallation of CV will the vdisks still be visable to the hosts? Just asking for safety.. :)
other impacts? or just downtime for me?
In the UPS guide, it's always talking about online upgrade, is it possible to do offline upgrade or is online best practise?

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
vdisks are available, however the array should not be 100% busy ...
offline would mean to shutdown the connected hosts (except CV station, of course).
I assume you still have CV 10.x running, so you should just "upgrade" to CV10.2 (run the installer; don't uninstall first).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
OK! I have downloaded the CV_10.2_Restore_T5494-10038 package so it should be OK then.
Okey, that is maybe not so fun :)
cons with online upgrade? minor time-out I guess? prefered to upgrade in the evening or the weekend.
I have CV 9.4 and XCS 10000000, so I really need to upgrade, as I have understand.

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
During the XCS upgrade the controller will reboot within the timeout value that you should set on the servers - see- the guide (usually done in <10sec).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade EVA6300
That's good :) so it should not be any problem to do this during the evening when the array is not that busy.
Will the upgrade affect the array in any how?
And the disk upgrade, is that to be done in CV? It's possible to upgrade all disks at the same time? That should also be done when array is not 100% busy?
