I have HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch with 5.3.0 version of Fabric OS installed.
On this http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3414315&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3414314&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54) HP site I saw newest Fabric OS version is 6.4.1a. But in release note writen:
Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.4.1a is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.3.x
And my question: Can I install to my switch 6.4.1a? If answer is yes, may I install any 6.x.x version of Fabric OS on my 5.3.0 version?
And last question: Why on site HP I don't see 6.0.0 release of Fabric OS? There was 5.3.1 and then 6.1.2 release.
Thanks.

Re: Firmware upgrade for HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch
Ask HP for version 6.0.x - nobody knows why the bundle is not there ... :-(
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade for HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch
You'll need an FTP-server to do the install.
(We don't like to keep FTP-servers running - or even installed - in my organisation, so I use ftpdmin, http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/index.html )

Re: Firmware upgrade for HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch
The Switch will go offline and reboot during the install.
In other words, soon after you initiate the first upgrade, it stops working and can be offline for up to half an hour. Unless you have full redundancy on the SAN(both Switches and cabling), your servers will lose contact with anything on the SAN during the operation.

Re: Firmware upgrade for HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch
6.0.x -> 6.1.x -> 6.2.x -> 6.3.x -> 6.4.x
You cannot go from 5.3.x to 6.1.x
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
