HP EVA P6500 Setup

We are being told by re-seller that there is an HP Mandatory setup and installation fee - which we must have in order for HP to support and warranty the SAN .....

Is this REALLY the case or are they trying to make some money?

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

Hello,

the P6300 is customer self installable. The 6500 includes installation and startup (I&S) services in the purchase price. This is payed if you buy an EVA 6500. HP will contact you after the purchase and will arrange an appointment for the installation and startup with you.

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

What about setting up Command View as I believe this can be on the controller itself?

The 'service' being offered is a setup of Command View, LUNs, full config and documentation and a hand-over to support team...

Do we need this? Is it MANDATORY???? Can customer setup EVA without HP authorised reseller value added services?????

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

So what you are saying is:

1 Purchase EVA P6500
2. HP will then contact to install EVA H/W Disk enclsoures disk etc
3. Reseller provide techie to install CV and configures LUNs, RSS, HP BC and HP CA to another EVA... ( Which is chargeable)
4. Customer now has supported EVA P6500 right?

Is this correct?

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

Hello,

the installation of the components is AFAIK part of the customer. HP will only doing the cabling, the installation of Command View, configure remote support and zoning for the EVA.

The installation of the hardware and the OS installation of the Command View EVA server is part of the customer or reseller.

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

Would you say this piece of work for 1 EVA with 8 shelves and 48 disk plus Command view is worth 5 days of on-site engineer time?

Re: HP EVA P6500 Setup

Hello,

with planning and doing (mount shelfs to the rack etc) two days would be sufficient. Most EVA setups are done within one or two days. If the EVA is factory integrated and connected to the FC fabric and power, and you have to setup CV and zoning to the CV host, it can be done in half a day.
