StorageWorks Core Switch
StorageWorks SAN Switch
Surestore FC Switch
B-Series, C-Series, M-Seris ....
and the list is endless.
What all I want to have is a simple document that describes the differences between these switches (models, firware/fabric OS used, OEM of that particular model, configuration etc.).
Any pointers in this direction will be very helpful.
Thanks,
Karthik S S

Solution- 'Edge Switch' is a small McData fibre channel switch.
- 'Core Switch' is a Brocade Director Class.
- 'SAN Switch' is a Brocade fibre channel switch.
- 'Surestore FC Switch' is a naming convention from HP pre-merger. I beleive it covers the Brocade fibre channel switches.
- 'B-Series' indicates switches/directors from Brocade.
- 'C-Series' indicates switches/directors from CISCO.
- 'M-Series' indicates switches/directors from McData.
I have never found everything in a 'simple document'. Required revision levels should be descibed in the design guide which is burried somewhere here:

Re: HP FC Switches - Confused with the naming convention :-(
Hello Everyone!
I would really like to understand the differences as well as the similarities between the HP 3000/5000/7000 series switches.
If there is a document that describes this, please also point me in that direction.
Thank you!
