Hello all,
I would like to know about limitation for HP MPIO basic.
Here's the situation...
A Server with 4 path to a MSA1000 SAN. (2 path from HBA q-logic and 2 others from joining 2 san swithes, complex route :) )
Yesterday, this machine installed with RHEL 5.0. Then, I configure the multipath for each path. RHEL can see 4 path to the SAN. The configuration running well.
But today, when I switched to Windows 2003 enterprise R2 SP2 edition, I failed to attach the SAN storage. Bored troubleshooting, then I began to read the notes.
I found a statement, that :
IV. Important Notes and Considerations
(bla..bla...bla)
3. The maximum number of paths supported per LUN is 2.
4. The maximum number of Host Bus Adapters supported per server is 2.
Here is my question
1. Do I failed to install this MPIO because of this limitaion, (MPIO only support 2 path per lun, in my case, I had 4 path to a LUN)
2. Are there any more free software like this for windows ?
3. Should I reconsidering re-zoning the path ? Since this MPIO only support 2 path/LUN
Any comment/suggestion are really appreciated.

Solution
You could try a firmware upgrade to A/A and use the full featured DSM. max paths per disk for MSA = 32
