HP MSA 2324FC to G3 Combo controller

We currently have a 2324FC with dual controllers in house. We are looking at upgrading them to the G3 combo controller so that we can take advantage of the remote snap capability. From what I read it says you can do in in place upgrade but am not sure if that means powering down and replacing both controllers? Can I remove one while it is running and insert the new one and then after it has performed any syncs needed then insert the next one? Has anyone done one yet?

..you have to shut down the whole system.

Thanks for the information. For some reason I could not find the document though I kept seeing reference to one. I just needed to scroll down to the white papers.
