HP P2000 G3 FC interoperability with 4GB FC switches

Hello, i would like to know if there are any issues with the P2000 G3 when accessed by 4GB FC HBAs through a 4GB FC switch (Brocade 4/12 interconnect on a C3000), since the P2000 nominal FC speed is 8GB.

Thank you.

Re: HP P2000 G3 FC interoperability with 4GB FC switches

Hello!

Should be fine. The switch will negotiate down the speed to 4GB unless you have it fixed.
It is probably a good idea to run this with fixed speed.

Re: HP P2000 G3 FC interoperability with 4GB FC switches

I have seen such array connecting at 8Gbs to a 8gb switch with only 4Gb SFP - strange.

I prefer to set the P2000 controllers to a fixed speed of 4Gbs instead of auto.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Very strange Torsten. Would that be with AN on both sides?

Yes. The switch and the P2k was set to auto, but the sfp was only 4Gbs. Anyway the connection speed was 8 Gbs for 2 ports ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
