HP SAN 4/32 clean firmware installation? bad CF card

Here the situation - A7537A SAN Switch 4/32 (Brocade 4100 SWBD32)- bad CF card - replace CF, no OS... sitting at boot PROM

Anyway to install the FABOS to the CF card while it is not in the unit?

DCFM does not see the unit.

Cannot do "firmwaredownload" because there is no firmware to boot to currently.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Why don't you want to install the firmware on the CF while it's inside the switch?

Not sure how.  I can only get to the Boot PROM.  Any tips on how to install from there?

Ah ok, it sounds strange.. Did you get the CF as an hp spare part?

Re: HP SAN 4/32 clean firmware installation? bad CF card

No, it's a generic CF... I had replaced one on a 200E in the past after cloning it without issue, (I had made a backup prior)... of course I did not make a backup of the 4100.

I've ended up putting the linux side of it on the CF (from that same 200E image) and am currently booted in single user mode (FOS fails to start, no surprise there)... I'm going to play with it a little more and see if I can get the "firmwaredownload" to run through that.   If I ever figure it out I'll post a solution.

Ah. If I had a switch over lying around this seems like a nice little project to play around with.

The 'firmwaredownload' command - would this be a binary lying somewhere on the CF? Where are they located?
