HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director Switch
I am adding another 32 port blade to the director switch. THe director is running 5.1b I believe of firmware. The new blade will no doubt have the latest firmware. Will the Director degrade the firmware to be the same as the other blades

Re: HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director Switch
not automatically.
you'll have to do this yourself as part of the post install process.
5.1b seems pretty old - 6.4.0b is the newest version (just saying) i know of.
regards,

Re: HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director Switch
Hi santokh,
The firmware is not in the port blade but in the CP of the switch.
So you can insert the blade as long as its hardware is compatible with the frame.
But yes you should consider upgrading the firmware on the switch CP from 5.1.b to 5.3.x first and then to the 6.x series soon OR you will be big trouble.
