HSG80 Lost Serial Number

One of our HSG80 Controllers recently failed and when we replaced it with our spare controller the spare seems to have lost its Serial Number ( Invalid Serial Number) and time ( 1946 !! ). Is there a way of reconfiguring these. It appears that we cannot reset the time until a valid Serial Number is entered.

Re: HSG80 Lost Serial Number

The controller module must be replaced. The end-user cannot change the serial number, because the manufacturing date is embedded and changing it could invalidate any service obligations - at least that's what I got told.

Re: HSG80 Lost Serial Number

Uwe,
Spot on answer. HP Technical came back with the same reply. Serial Number is used for warranty tracking and there is no way for the end user to re-input its Serial Number.

Re: HSG80 Lost Serial Number

The command to set a lost serial number on a HSG80, HSZ40 etc. is:

HSZ> dangerous x serial="CX25251010" PRE

If the SN is lost, the controller will set a default SN of CX20100000 and it will refuse to work like that. The correct SN can be found on the controller cover or mainboard.
