Hard Drive Firmware Update on EVA4100
I have to do firmware on the controllers (6.220) and 56 hard drives. I read in HP's docs that you should NOT do more then 20 HD's at a time...Is this rule-of-thumb or is HP covering there...I called support and they said I should have no trouble doing all of them at once...you can't stop at 20...

Re: Hard Drive Firmware Update on EVA4100
Actually, you can stop the process by simply clicking out of the disk firmware codeload screen. It's been a couple of years since I did this, but whatever the documentation says is the concern with codeloading more than 15-20 at a time is accurate.

Re: Hard Drive Firmware Update on EVA4100
Hi
EVA code now up to 6.240 in last few weeks:
https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductsList.do?category=NAS
Latest EVA disk drive bundle available from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=3302267&taskId=135
I am not aware of a disk limit as whenever I have run the online disk code load it has only ever done ONE drive at a time before moving on to the next.
HP certainly recommend that you code load disks at a "quite" time.

Re: Hard Drive Firmware Update on EVA4100
At least the latest generations of the EVA put the disk in maintenance mode, upgrades it, then puts it back in the DG. There is supposed to be a timer of some 3.5minute I believe. This can be seen in the controller event log.
