Re: How to change disk enclosure id on EVA 6400
Has anyone actually changed the disk enclosure IDs successfully on a P6000 disk array with XCS11....?
In a 2C18D array, if it was requested to change the disk enclosure IDs, from top to bottom, linerly say IDs from 0 to 17. Can it be done by powering up the controllers 1st then one disk enclosure at a time? Please share your stories.

Yes, I did this during a fresh installation, but this is not recommended for whatever reason (sidSet command on the enclosure).
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: How to change disk enclosure id on EVA 6400
As an HP Channel Partner, my customer will ask why is it not recommended.
Does the controller XCS FW, via I/O modules, set the enclosure IDs for optimal enclosure access? Will manual enclosure ID settings affect the disk enclosure access?

Re: How to change disk enclosure id on EVA 6400
As far as I remember when you switch on the eva the first time, the controller will set the disk enclosure id's by first-come-first-serve and that's it. A change is just not recommended whitout telling a reason.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
