Increase EVA Capacity

Dear All,
I need to increase the capacity of EVA from 2 TB to 5TB,what should I do?also what about license,should I buy a new one?

well you'll certainly need some more disks :) How many enclosures / empty disk bays do you have, what model of EVA and what is the space to be used for. All these need to be considered. One way is to use the same disk type and add them to your existing disk group, for less critical storage you may have the option of FATA large capacity disks in a new group or get lager FC disks for a critical new group.

Oh and if you have a limited capacity licence (e.g. 2GB) then you will need a new capacity licence, may as well get an unlimited one.

by default EVA have a LTU of 4TB,pls check your LTU if its unlimited, if unlimited all you have to do is add hdd,enclosure if needed and expand the capacity using command view

That depends on the EVA model and when you bought it, because the 'defaults' change from time to time.

Correct. First check if you need additional licenses. Maybe you are already on unlimited capacity, then you don't need additional CV-EVA capacity.

If you need additional CV-EVA license capacity, you have to decide whether you buy incremental 1TB licenses or a one-time upgrade to unlimited. That depends on your company's current financial situation and whether you will add more disk capacity later. Sometimes the budget simply does not allow to upgrade to unlimited, even when more disk space is needed later on anyway.

And then you have to decide what type of disk drives and how many you want/need. From there you can calculate the number of disk drive enclosures needed - check whether you EVA can deal with the total amount of enclosures (the EVA-4400 is limited to 8).
In some cases you need to do a redesign of your disk configuration.

You can check the licenses directly from command view (server option tab). Please check if your EVA (model?) can be extended from the current configuration.
