Lun assignment on HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64

After creating one LUN of 200GB from our EVA 8000 Storage to one of our Itenium Server, observing the output of ioscan we find that it is showing 8 new LUNs. Is it supposed to create 8 LUNs? Is Secure Path Need to be installed?

Try

# ioscan -m dsf

and you will see you get only 1 "new" device, but 8 legacy for 8 pathes to this single LUN.

Hope this helps!

Have you verified that all 8 devices in ioscan are for the same LUN? If yes, this can be caused by multiple interfaces on the server and the array being zoned together. Check the zoning on your switches and how the server interfaces connect to the array interfaces.

Hi,
you can use the native MPIO of 11.31 (or PVlinks):

http://docs.hp.com/en/native-multi-pathing/native_multipathing_wp_AR0803.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
the pain is one part of the reality

Check with

# ioscan -funC disk

# ioscan -m dsf

# insf -c

-------------------------------

Check the zone members in the zone ... I think you have zoned for all the host ports in the EVA...

have u r zone as single initiator single target..
