and you will see you get only 1 "new" device, but 8 legacy for 8 pathes to this single LUN.

Have you verified that all 8 devices in ioscan are for the same LUN? If yes, this can be caused by multiple interfaces on the server and the array being zoned together. Check the zoning on your switches and how the server interfaces connect to the array interfaces.

Check the zone members in the zone ... I think you have zoned for all the host ports in the EVA...
have u r zone as single initiator single target..
