i have msa1000 SAN.

i need to mpio with rhel-4 u4 with san partition.

quick note:
1- MSA-1000
2- its active/passive mode
3- two hba connected with F-Switch.
4- i can see both lun on my linux box
a- sda
b- sbb
5- when i see show paths its says
sda [failed][faulty]
sdb [active][ready]
please advice need multipathing

Which model HBA do you have?

Multipath support could very possibly be built into the hba driver. I know qlogic for sure has multipath support.

why not unplug the FC cable from sdb and see if the other one comes active. If it does you already have failover, you seem to have multipath since the LUN is seen but inactive! Unless by "both LUN" you actually mean two seperate LUNs, as configured on the MSA. Also have you configured a connection to the second WWPN on the MSA, no connection, no redundant path.

note msa controller is active/passive mode

this server has oracle db running

Dear kindly note

when i disconect hba-1 i can not mount any partition.

and if hda-1 is connected and hba-2 is disconect then i can see sda partition.

also in Selective Storage Presentation Settings hba-2 adpter detail is offline.

only hba-1 adapter is online thats way i can only see sda partition please advice.
