Re: MSA 1500

See the HP StorageWorks 1500 Modular Smart Array maintenance and service guide, page 72:

To remove power from the MSA, do the following:
1. Ensure that a known good backup is available.
2. Schedule a maintenance window.
3. From the servers in the network, stop all access to the MSA.
4. Press and hold down the MSA Power On/Standby button for five seconds to place the MSA in Standby mode.
5. Verify that the Power On/Standby button LED is amber/off and that the fans are off.
6. Disconnect all power cords from the AC outlets, and then from the device.
7. Disconnect all external peripheral devices from the MSA.

Re: MSA 1500

Do you have any extra disk shelves connected to the MSA1500?

Victor: do you agree that the extra shelves should be turned off (or have power cord taken out in the models without power button) after point 4 in your list?
