MSA 1500cs - Failed storage encloser

Good day,

Over the weekend, one of our MSA20 SATA enclosures connected to the MSA1500 failed. All drives that were in that box are showing up as failed. We're planning on getting a new MSA20 and moving the disks from the failed box to the new box.

Can this be done while the MSA1500 is currently running or will the storage system have to be brought down completely? In the event that we have to bring it down, are there any caveats about using the same disks in a new enclosure?

Thank you!

Hello Louis,

you have to shutdown the whole system to transfer the disks from one MSA20 to the new MSA20. Then start the shelfs and after roundabout three minutes the controller shelf.

Thanks Patrick,

I figured that's would need to be done. I was just hoping that there may have been another way to do it without bring the whole thing down.

Thanks again for the response.
