MSA 2000FC Configuration
Does anyone have any details on the best way to virtual disks in a MSA 2000FC across 24 450GB disks? I only have two blades and have a need for 4 volumes on each blade servers. The MSA has redundant fans, power supplies, and controllers, disks in each RAID 5 group plus an additional hot spare disk. I have laid out the virtual disks in 2 sets with one VD going to system 00 and the other going to system 01. When creating the VD I picked every other disk for a total of 3-4 on the first bank of 12 disks and then the same numbers on the second bank of 12 disks in a RAID 5 configuration with any additional disk selected as the hot spare (Disk 12) on bank 1. For the second VD I created the same configuration using the even disks plus a hot spare (Disk 12) on bank 2.
I will include the details of the VD, and volumes below, but my question is there any pro or con to select the disks in the VD the way I have it laid out? Should I have selected disks 1-7, plus a hot spare as disk 8 on bank 1 for the first VD and selected disks 1-7, plus a hot spare as disk 8 on bank 2 for the second VD?
