MSA 2012sa - Automatic rebuild not working - unable to replace the failed drive

Hi,

We have MSA2012sa storage, with six 146gb hard disk on raid 6. Online Spare or global spare is not configured. Now one of the Hard disk failed. We removed the faulty drive and inserted new drive, still it shows amber LED on the hard disk. after clearing the metadata now the hard disk shows as available.

But we are not getting the option to add the hard disk to the existing vdisk or it is not automatically rebuilding.
Please help.

Storage controller code ver J300P13
Memory Control : F300R22
Load Ver: 15.010
Manage Control Code Ver : W430R31
Load Ver : 12.013

Raid Controller Hardware Ver : LCA56
CPLD Ver : 27

Is this a bug?

Hi, can you add it as a spare?

once the disk is added to the Spare list, verfy vdisk and it will add in the spare for you.

Its not a bug.

You HAVE to enable it as global spare!
Your degraded raid will see a global spare an will use that drive to rebuild your raid...

Always assign spare disk as global spare or directly assign the spare at a certain raid array.
