MSA 2312fc and HBA's - recommendation and questions

Hi,
we plan to create a small SAN. I'd like to use a MSA 2000 G2 FC (2312FC). We have two ProLiant Server, one ML 350 G5, one ML 350 G6.
Which FC HBA do you recommend ?
- HP StorageWorks 42B 4Gb Dual-Port PCIe FC HBA
- Emulex FC2242SR
- Qogic FC1242SR
What is the advantage of a dual channel FC ?
Do i really need that when i have just one SAN and two servers with a HBA ?
Which one is supported by a native SLES 11 SP1, without the need to compile a driver ?
Is the 2312fc compatibel with the two ProLiant servers ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
There's no big difference between dual-port and single-port HBAs on x86 servers except the case when you physically disconnect one optical cable. In this case, you'll be ok if you're using dual-port hba.
The second thing, you should check is the direct-connect compatibility of storage and HBA (i haven't found it in quicspecs, so i advice you to ask presale about it).
As for SAN and two servers - it all depends on your infrastructure growth plans. If you won't have a heavy load on SAN, look at iSCSI storages.
As for support of SLES, you can check it here: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13187_div/13187_div.HTML

Check out SPOCK http://www.hp.com/storage/spock

There you should find the full compatabilty details and even see if they used the native (inbox) driver or a compiled driver.
And there is also the 'Native Linux Device-Mapper Multipath for HP StorageWorks Arrays reference guide' in Application Notes -> Solutions: Linux.

Anyway with SLES 11 SP1 I never bothered with compiling drivers from hp.com, the inbox drivers always worked.

The combination storage - HBA is compatibel.

I expect some kind of load. I prefer FC. ISCSI is not much cheaper.

They say it's compatibel to "SuSE SLES (32/64)".
