MSA 2324 G2 FC Hard Drive not recognized
Hi guys,
I have a customer with a MSA2324G2 DC FC and when he plugs in a Harddrive in Bay 2 of his enclosure, the drive is not recognized.
The same Harddrive works in every other Bay but not in Bay 2.
Plugged in in Bay 2 shows no reaction, neither on the gui and cli nor the status led becomes green.
After a while it turns orange in Bay 2 but still no Info's on gui or cli...
Is the enclosure defective or is it an other problem?

Re: MSA 2324 G2 FC Hard Drive not recognized
Hi,
This sounds like a faulty backplane on the MSA.
You can check the logs on the MSA when plugging in the drive if it does a SCSI bus rescan when you plugin the disk.
I would raise a case with HP support and have them go trough the logs on the system.

Re: MSA 2324 G2 FC Hard Drive not recognized
Hi,
I also think that the backplain is defective. Does a replace of the backplain affect any of the data and raid information stored on the hard drives?
HP Supporter said, that the Zoning has to be reconfigured, but I can't guess why, because the WWN doesn't change after a backplain change or does it???
