MSA 2324fc + Server 2008 core + MSDSM

Hello,

We are using MSDSM in an MPIO setup on a Windows Server 2008 core. The limitation of using this setup is that you can't change the load balancing policy for MPIO. (Defaults to Round robin with subset)
On the HP site you can find "HP MPIO Full Featured DSM for MSA".
I was wondering if i could use this one for our MSA2324fc since the Readme says it only supports the HP StorageWorks MSA1000/1500.

Anyone an idea what's best practise for this setup?

Any MSA1000/1500 MPIO is certainly not correct for the MSA2000 series.

Windows 2008 has the MPIO embedded. I don't know about 2008 core, but here is a link to a customer advisory that tells which additional tasks to do (it says MSA2012fc/MSA2212fc, but I am sure it is also valid for the MSA2324fc):

HP StorageWorks MSA2012fc and MSA2212fc - Requires Further Configuration of Multipath I/O (MPIO) Feature in Microsoft Windows Server 2008 to Activate Multiple Paths per LUN

Thanks for the reply Uwe Zessin.

The configuration of Multipath succeeded successfully. The problem is that the last step in de guide you posted (Load Balance Policies) isn't possible on Windows Server Core commandline.
If i'm not mistaking, the HP DSM's can be configured with the DSM manager from an external Windows server mmc. That's why we would like to use that setup.
At the moment we are forced using default 'Round robin with subset'-policy without any knowledge of how many paths are (non-)active.
