MSA P2000 G3 SAS SFF and connecting the hosts

I have two DL380 G7 servers. Both of them have two dual port SAS HBA cards.

From the user guide I found the following configuration (in the attachment). The picture differs from my setup a little bit because there is only one dual port HBA per server but that doesn't really matter.

Can someone explain to me why is this done as seen in the picture? I have connected my SAS cables like this: P2000 port A1 (Server 1, HBA1), A2 (Server 1, HBA2), B1 (Server 2, HBA1), and B2 port (Server 2, HBA2).

I'd say the idea behind the picture is to get redundancy against controller failure.
