MSA P2000fc G3 - unable to remove hosts

We implmeneted new P2000 fc but forgot to remove the tape library from the fabric. Therefore the MSA discovered the connectors automaticaly. Now that the connectors are removed from the fabric we can not remove the Hosts.

"The command had an invalid value (xxx) - Host xxx was discovered, so it cannot be deleted.
The command had an invalid value"

Any solution?

Hi!

Have you tried to delete it from the CLI too?
Maybe you have to put the library back to be able to delete it..

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 - unable to remove hosts

I tried the CLI allready before submitting the case

I have put the Library back into the fabric, and neither the Webadmin nore the CLI solves the issue

Are you sure, that it's not the SAN switch you see?

You will see the switch(s) as hosts.

DARN!

You are absolutely right - should have checked the WWN's first. Is this something I should have read in a manual? :-)

Thanks anyway

Been there my self :)

So my guess is it's the switch(es), you see.
Have no idea what else it could be.

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 - unable to remove hosts

I trew the WWN through an online WWN decoder and guess what it answered? "Brocade Communication Systems" :-)

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 - unable to remove hosts

Hi,

I am facing the same issue here (unable to remove the host which is SAN Switch). At the end, how to remove the host ? Is it to connect back the SAN Switch, then I can remove the host ?

Thanks.

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 - unable to remove hosts

It's very easy to remove the WWN from the switches.
Simply unplug the FC cables, then delete the WWN's. ;)

If you want to use you're MSA, and share it through SAN switches, you're stuck with them.
So what you can do, is rename the WWN's. ei to switch A and Switch B or Fabric A and Fabic B.
Or anything you like, and whatever make it easy for you to identify the "switches"
