I did an "expand unit 0 disk..." which went fine(RAID10 getting 2 more disks). VMware Hosts didn't crash or anything. Machines were running while array was expanding. After that I tried to extend and I get:
CLI-2> extend unit 0 add_size=286100mb
The actual new volume size will be 2288804MB.
Unit extension failed.
There are 2 ESX Hosts acessing the SAN which now consists of 16x300GB RAID10 +2xSpare:
CLI-2> show unit 0
Unit 0:
In PDLA mode, Unit 0 is Lun 1; In VSA mode, Unit 0 is Lun 0.

Anyone got an idea? Is there a max_size for extending an unit?
