Re: MSA1000 FW update
This depends if you have active/passive and want to stay at a/p or if you have a/p and want to go to a/a.
a/p version is 5.40
a/a version is 7.20
What version is running?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSA1000 FW update
Thats an old A/P firmware.
Take a look at the release notes for A/P5.4 and 7.2(AA) for the install procedures (Serial and using flash utility)
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-linux/p1145532910/v67369/592436-002_MSA10001500RelNotes.htm
IMPORTANT: Downgrading firmware from v7.xx/5.xx to v4.xx or earlier is not supported. Back-flashing firmware will result in a loss of configuration settings.
Ensure you have a valid backup of data prior to upgrade.
