MSA1000 + Zoning + Multipath

Hello folks!

Some Facts:

Storage:
MSA 1000 running 7.00 A/A Firmware
Dual controllers
Dual 2/8 SAN Switches running Fabric OS 3.2.1c
14x SCSI HDD's

Servers:
2x DL385 g3 with 2x single port HP QLogic HBA
2x IBM x3650m2 with 1 dual port IBM Qlogic HBA

We have 5 LUN's on this MSA1000, 4 assigned via SSP to the HP boxes and one to the IBM boxes.

Initially I didn't have zoning set up on these switches, just SSP. We were facing an issue that when we booted the IBM boxes, the HP servers would lose connectivity to the SAN. Since these servers run Oracle 10g RAC, when that happens the server is immediately booted.

The HP and IBM servers run separate clusters, totally independent.

Well, we then proceeded to configure zoning, which wasn't set up at all. I Configured Zoning by WWN, creating one zone for each server on each controller, and including on each zone the controller and the HBA port.

When we did that, the reboot issue was solved, but I lost multipath on both clusters (HP and IBM). Previously, it was working correctly. Now I see only the left controller flashing on the front, where previously they were flashing the same way on both sides.

Here's the zoning config:

Did I do anything wrong?

Re: MSA1000 + Zoning + Multipath

have you allowed both HBAs to see each LUN in SSP?

Re: MSA1000 + Zoning + Multipath

Yes, I have! Multipath was working smoothly before the zoning setup.
