MSA2012 expansion online or offline
I am new to this and would like some help on a few questions.
A have to fit an additional drive enclosure to a MSA2012. Can I fit this whilst the existing one if still on-line.?????
If the new enclosure has newer firmware installed will this upset the exisitng kit????
If so am I going to have to upgrade the firmware on the existing kit first or can I do it after.
How do I setup SNMP monitoring on the ecxisting kit so I can monitor remotely??.
I look forward to your reply.

I have this same issue, did you ever find an answer? did you install the drive enclosure while the other was powered on?

Re: MSA2012 expansion online or offline
I am completing the work this coming Wednesday night.
I believe it might be possible to acheive online as I have a dual controller system. However to ensure low risk and impact I was able to get total downtime to attached devices to SAN so going to turn off the system and then complete the work.

Re: MSA2012 expansion online or offline
you have to do this offline. You have to realign the SAS cabling and this has to be done offline. After that, check the firmware and upgrade the firmware of the i/o modules to the latest firmware. I think that the new enclosure will have a newer firmware.
Best regards,
Patrick
