MSA2012i non HP disks support

Hi all,

before i was hired, my collegaes bought 3 new file servers with total capacity of 18 HDD's of 1 TB for storage expanding.

As i'm hired to make a new networkdesign, i'm considering to choose the MSA2012i dual controller.

To protect the investment i want to reuse the HDD's:

Seagate 1TB ST31000528AS 7.2K SATA2
Samsung 1TB HD103UJ 7.2K SATA2

How far does the MSA2012i support non HP disks, and in what matter does it affect the performance?

The MSA will mainly be use for filesharing towards a fileserver and hosting VM's.

Thanks in advance

Re: MSA2012i non HP disks support

IMHO the terms "non-hp" and "support" exclude each other ...

Hope this helps!

Re: MSA2012i non HP disks support

With support i mean, does the MSA2012i work with the HDD's mentioned in the first post, or is there a significant chance that the disks are not recognised or bringing much troubles?

Can some be fixed with a firmware update, etc?

i read some people had uses third-party disks in a MSA20 without much troubles...
