MSA2312FC duplicate WWN on controllers

We have an issue where we swapped an MSA 2000 G2 SMU from one msa2312fc enclosure to another enclosure. The SMU retained its original WWN so we had a duplicate WWN on our SAN, so we removed the SMU with the duplicate WWN.

We then ordered a brand new MSA SMU and inserted it into the empty MSA controller enclosure with no other SMU in it. when we powered it up the brand new SMU again had the duplicate WWN?

Can someone tell us why this is happening, or where the WWN is actually stored on a MSA2312FC controller enclosure?

Alternatively how do we change the duplicate WWN on the SMU - surely it came with a unique SMU before we powered it up?
