MSA2312i during initiating

Hi gurus,

Once I create the vdisk and volume, the initiating of the hard disk begins. During the initiation, will there be any impact if I write data consistently?

because the initiation is very long and my customer might not afford to wait.

On other MSAs if you created it online you could run into problems with scrubbing later on. Back then it was suggested to create the vdisks offline. Not sure if this have changed with later firmwares or MSAs though.

Sorry, but what do you mean by scrubbing?

On the MSA2000 series, "scrubbing" means that the system is reading the data and verifying the RAID redundancy in order to detect errors a quick as possible. It is a background operation that is suspended during real host I/Os and it can be turned off.

Ahh okay, I also not sure it is suitable in MSA2000 series. I guess I'll play it safe and do it offline first.
