MSA2324FC G2 vdisk volume raid 10 limited to 4?

Hi, inside the web interface for the msa2324fc and needing to create a 10 disk volume using raid 10. Problem is that the vdisk setup only allows me to select 4 drives when I specify raid10. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Re: MSA2324FC G2 vdisk volume raid 10 limited to 4?

Hi,

In raid 10 the minimum is 4 drives and we can add multiple of 2 to upgrade it..how ever what is the maximum number supported is dependent on controller.....all MSA external guides says it supports raid 10 and

Max 32 disks per Vdisk for RAID 0,50 and 10

please check if you are crossing all the drives of same type and specification

Re: MSA2324FC G2 vdisk volume raid 10 limited to 4?

Thanks. Back inside the SMU for the MSA2324FC when creating vdisk and selecting raid level 10 there is an option next to it called "sub-vdisks". That pull down has 2,3,4,6,8 listed so I picked 8 and it allows me to enter a maximum of 16 drives for that raid 10 vdisk. lucky i have all the same 48 SAS 300gb drives

The default when creating a raid 10 vdisk on an msa2324fc shows 4 disks. pull down the 'sub vdisk' menu and selected 8. Then the screen changes to show 16 drives that can be clicked for the vdisk.
