Maintence window in order to relocate controllers in EVA8400.
HP recently alerted me that in order to add 72 drives into an operational EVA8400 the array must go down (maintenance window) due to the fact that the array was originally shipped with the controllers were placed at the bottom of the rack. Anyone went thru this before? what sort of pre-cautionary process I should follow beside saving the array configuration and a full backup? THANKS in advance.

Re: Maintence window in order to relocate controllers in EVA8400.
I've reassembled an EVA-6400 some time ago for a similar reason and found it helpful to document the current hardware locations and their wiring and tag all enclosures with little labels. Then make a plan for the desired config well in advance before the maintenance window starts in order to keep the downtime short. Tagged all long cables with their future endpoints as well.

Re: Maintence window in order to relocate controllers in EVA8400.
hi, this is a safe activity and you should take care to label & document the new structure of the cabling/location of components.
