Maximum Size fo Virtual Disk in EVA8000

i'm using eva8000.
what is the maximum size of virtual disk i can create?? Can I create a vdisk of 100 GB? hope to hear from you soon. Thank you

Hello,

the maximum size of a Vdisk is 2TB (actually 2047GB). 100GB is no problem, as long as you have enough free capacity in your disk group.

The only way (right now) to create a 100TB disk would be to create 50 2TB virtual disks and use host based storage management to combine them into 1 Logical Disk.

Maximum disks in a disk group is 240.

240 x 1TB FATA = 240TB = max raw data size in a disk group

This is exactly what I need to do with our EVA8000. I looked on HP web site and did not find the "host based storage management". Is-it a tool provided by HP? Where can we get this utility and is-there a procerdure on how to proceed?

It means using Windows dynamic disks or HP-UX LVM for example to take several 2 TB physical drives and concatenate them into a bigger logical drive.

Does anyone know of a solution that would address the 2Tb limitation for the following;

-EVA8k
-2003 Windows cluster

The cluster piece prevents us from using Dynamic disks and thus no striping multiple 2Tb disks.

I'm certain that this would have to be a 3rd party solution.

Hello,

you have to use something like Symantec Volume Manager etc. Anything else won't work or is unsupported.
