It came with a new COmmandView Server and software CV 9.0.1.
We have an older CommndView Server running CV 7.0 and serving 3 older EVAs -- an EVA5000 - VCS 3.110, an EVA8000 XCS 6.100 and an EVA8100 XCS 6.110.
Per the releasenotes, our older EVAs should be supported on this new CV 9.0.1 software.
TO move management of these older EVAs to the new CV Server - does it require downtime? We don;t think so but just to get your thoughts.
Also, the following is the procedure we're planning.
1.) Zone the EVAs to the new CV 9.0.1 Server
2.) Enable Discovery on the CV 9.0.1 environment
3. Start Managing.
4. Decomission old CV Server.
One thing I am not sure on -- do we need to re-install CV Licenses for each migrated EVA or do the licenses carry over?
Many thanks in advance.
Zinky.

Re: Migrate/Consolidate CommandView Management of EVA Arrays
With that many EVAs I would think about keeping the old CV server and bringing it to 9.x as well - then you have a backup system for management. It can even work 'warm-standby': have the EVAs discovered.

Re: Migrate/Consolidate CommandView Management of EVA Arrays
Uwe, we actualy got 2 CV 9.0.1 Servers so we'll be zoning the older EVA FPs to both the CV9.0.1 nodes.
Tortsten,
Is the upgrade to CV 9.1 supported or must it be -- de-install CV 9.0.1 first and then Install 9.1
And when HP says "recommended" it is not mandatory right? I saw the CV/XCS/VCS matrix and noticed HP "recommends" XCS to be at 6.2 for CV versions of 8.X and later.
Thanks again.

According to this upgrade is supported, however, I always deinstall the old version.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
