Migrate EVA 6000/4000 Pair to EVA 4400 Pair?

I have a customer with an old EVA 6000/4000 pair, running Command View 6 and Continues Access.

We have sold them a new EVA 4400 pair, that is going to replace the old EVA's. the Old EVA's are no longer covered by a support contract.

The old EVA's are running CV6, and has a disk size, that is quite a bit larger than the installed license.... (We didn't sell them that, We have just taken over the installation and EVA support)

What do I need, in order to migrate to the new EVA 4400 pair?
the new EVA 4400 Pair is comming with Unlimited LTU for Continues Access.

Can I migrate, using CV6? or do I have to use CV9?
Do the CV9 come with a DR Migration License, that I can use for the Migration, or is that only for the EVA 3000/5000?

I expect to do the migration, by using Continues Access to migrate the data to the new EVA 4400 pair, and then removing the older EVA's from the configuration.

Re: Migrate EVA 6000/4000 Pair to EVA 4400 Pair?

Hello,

you need at least CV 8 to support the EVA4400. If you add the EVAx000 to the new CV8 it will use the instant-on license. So you can migrate the data without any problems using the instant-on license.

Do you have a CV LTU for the EVA4400?

The DR Migration License is a temporary CA license with support. If you don't need support, you don't need the DR migration license. Just use the instant-on license.

Re: Migrate EVA 6000/4000 Pair to EVA 4400 Pair?

Make sure the EVA4000 has the firmware updated, 6110, 6200 or 6220.
Install Command View 9.1 on a new server, the Instant-on license appears only if it's the first Command View version installed.

Update the EVA4400 to XCS 09522000, and management module to firmware 1.3.

With the instant-on license you can set up a replication between the EVAs and copy everything from the EVA4000 to the EVA4400.

Re: Migrate EVA 6000/4000 Pair to EVA 4400 Pair?

Patrick: that is PERFECT, just what I needed, I had forgotten that Instant On license.

We do have the Continous Access licenses for both the EVA 4400's

I intend to use CV 9.1 after upgrading the EVA4400's to the latest XCS 09522000. (Offline, I still remember crashing 2 EVA's trying the Online upgrade at Technology Forum this year)

You need also a capacity LTU für Command View. Only CA LTU is not enough.
