Migrating 1 swith in a Fabric

Hi,

i'm migrating a brocade 4/8 switch with zoning activated in an existing brocade Fabric.

The firmware will be the same as the other switch in the fabric but i want to know what will happen with my zoning.

I have zoning in the 4/8 switch and a completely different zoning config in the actual Fabric. Will it merge by itself or I have to erase all the zoning from the 4/8 swith and redo it when it will be joined to the existing fabric?

Whenever you merge two switches one must be clean of zoning information. Otherwise they will not merge and will stay "segmented".

Or you 'hack' both switches so that the configuration is the same. I have a dim memory that this task using configUpload, edit, configDownload was described somewhere, but it might have been in some training manuals.

Thanks for the info, that's what i tought but I'm trying to find a solution :)
