Move Disk Shelf between EVA's (EVA 4000) - Exiting EVA Dead
We had an EVA in one office die (complete hardware failure). We moved the disk shelf to another EVA in a new location. Using Command EVA I can now see the new shelf and all paths look good. I cannot however see the disk group. All disks in the introduced shelf are showing as ungrouped. Would there be a way to setup the exising disk group without initalizing the array (to get the luns back).
I checked with HP and since the unit is not covered under a service agreement, we dont' have any options for support.

Re: Move Disk Shelf between EVA's (EVA 4000) - Exiting EVA Dead
Hi
If you moved a disk group from one EVA to another you can not recreate the disk group as the configuration of the old EVA is written on the disks. I am sure HP support can bypass this but even with support I am not sure they would help.
If you need the data you can shutdown the EVA and power on only with the new disks then it can read the old EVA configuration. the backup or copy what you need.
Beware not to power on with disks from two EVAs because you will get conflicts.
