Multipathing on HPUX11.31

Hi,

We have an EVA8100 and we noticed that on a couple of our HPUX 11.31 servers the on this output half of the lun paths are in STANDBY state.

Each hba on the HPUX seever is zoned to 4 paths on the EVA controller, hence 8 paths per disk.

What I am wondering is should not all of this paths be ACTIVE/ACTIVE?

The reason for the question is that we noticed on the SAN switches that 2 out of the 4 ports in the zoning configuration were basically doing nothing. So want to be able to equalize out the I/O and use all 4 paths per controller if possible.

Can this be done or does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Where is my beer...??

Re: Multipathing on HPUX11.31

Andrew,

Most of the multipath softwares will let you do the "load balancing" across all the HBA's so that all the paths are active.

I am not sure what multipath software you are currently using... but you just got to set the policies correctly and smartly on the box to get it working.

Thanks!
