Would like to seek your advice.we have 2 storage and previously run replication using sync mode. because of the bandwidth limitation (the round trip delay was very high during the problem), our application was badly affected. and because of that, our business department is not confident to run sync mode replication.
our application RTO is 1 and RPO is 0. can async mode help also to achieve this business objective? Do you difference/criterias for comparison between async and sync in meeting business objective?
Looking forward for your awaiting reply.
Many thanks

Also I guess RTO = 1 hr, if not please clarify.

Re: Need help understanding CA Synchronous vs Enhanced Asynchronous to meet business objective
so you mean taht RTO has priority and RPO isn't on foucs? If RTO is on focus async replication can be a solution.

Patrick

Re: Need help understanding CA Synchronous vs Enhanced Asynchronous to meet business objective
Thank you for your reply.
The storage model is EVA8100.
Yes,exactly, the RTO=1 hour, and RPO=0.
Both are the focus, the time to recover and point objective. 1 hour to recover and resume the business operation and no data loss is tolerable of RPO zero.
If the goal is like this, can async make the objective? how much time lag behind should the production storage burn down? every second of this application, thousands of submission coming in.
Hope to hear from you. Many thanks in advance

Solutionif data loss is not tolerable, then async replication is not an option. You can't ensure that all data is receivied by the DR site, if your primary site going down.
