No storport driver for Qlogic HBA on Windows 2000?

Currently have EVA5000 active/passive and soon to upgrade to VCS4.x active/active. I've been advised by HP to update all HBA drivers and to use storport drivers. We have a Windows 2000 server with a Qlogic QLA2340 HBA. Qlogic only has SCSI and IP NDIS drivers for W2k. Should the SCSI driver work with VCS4.x? I'll also be installing MPIO Basic.

Re: No storport driver for Qlogic HBA on Windows 2000?

The storport stack was introduced by Microsoft on Windows 2003, so it does not exist on Windows 2000.

For an EVA5000 with firmware 4100 and a QLA2340 (FCA2214) it's recommended:

BIOS: 1.45
Driver: SCSI Miniport 9.1.3.11 / 9.1.0.13

Do you have a link to where you found the recommendation? I also need to know if those versions will support EVA8100.

Re: No storport driver for Qlogic HBA on Windows 2000?

Hi, all the compatibility information can be found now here:

http://www.hp.com/storage/spock

And yes, the same HBA with the same drivers is recommended for a EVA8100, but only with XCS 6.110, which will be out of support on August 31th.

So you're on a dilemma here... those Windows 2000 severs are too old for a recent EVAx100 or EVAx400.

Re: No storport driver for Qlogic HBA on Windows 2000?

I supposed I should've mentioned that it's W2k Server (not Advanced) and that it's two servers in a cluster.
Spock says for EVA 5000 VCS 4.x, "Servers running Windows 2000 Server doesn't support MCSC."

That sounds like a problem.

Nevermind, they're "Advanced". Wish I could edit a post here.

Microsoft stopped W2000 support last year, so no new qualifications are done by HP.
